Sri Jagaddev Singh Sanskrit College, Saptarishi Ashram, Haridwar (U.K.)
Introduction

Who does not know about the Saptarishi Ashram situated on the holy banks of the holy river Bhagirathi? This place is the ascetic land of seven great sages. It is here that the wine-flowing Ganges delights the people with its rustling sound. By drinking her nectar one attains liberation and happiness. The Sanatan Dharma Representative Assembly, the mother body of the Ashram, is committed to the promotion of Indian culture, Sanatan Dharma and Sanskrit language. The founder of this ashram, Tyagamurti Ganeshvatta Mahabhaga, was the integral heart of Bharat Ratna Madan Mohan Malviya Mahabhaga. With their help, on 13-04-1959, he established a Sanskrit College in memory of a king known as Jagaddev Singh for the convenience and study of Sanskrit students in this ashram. It was also inaugurated by the hands of former Prime Minister of India, Mrs. Jawaharlal Nehru. The ashram also provided facilities for the students studying Sanskrit in this college. such as hostel arrangements, food arrangements, library arrangements, playgrounds, playground arrangements, etc. Various teachers are engaged in teaching grammar, the first of the six disciplines, followed by literature, yoga, English, computer systems, Hindi literature and social sciences.
Many managers were also engaged in the service of the college for a long time. The first of them was Pandit Manoharlal Bahuguna, the second was Janardan Sharma and the third was S.P. Chopra, IV Ajna Sehgal At present, the administration and management of the college is also going well with the help of Dr. Nandakishore Sharma.
Not only the managers but many great personalities also award the title of Principal to protect the reputation of this college. Among those great personalities are Acharya Madhusudan Vajpayee, Acharya Pravar, Buddhivallabh Shastri, Vaiyakaran and Acharya Kanta Prasad Badola. Now I am doing my M.A. Literary teacher Dr. Rajendra Prasad Goniyal is carrying the heavier burden of the post of principal. As office heads, Mohan Chandra Nainwal and Shiv Prasad Belwal were able to accommodate the students and teachers with their efficient working methods.
There are now 350 students studying in this college from the first to the teacher class as well as all the students of the yoga department. The students get up in the morning and go to the teachers to study on time every day. From 7 am to 1 pm, the students of the yoga class are also seen constantly engaged in all activities like asana, pranayama, meditation, dharana, study etc. The manager of the ashram and all other staff participate in the activities of the college.
All the members of the managing committee are working day and night for the upliftment of the college and they have a great desire for the upliftment of the college in all its aspects.
